2007 Scouting for Food

As one of my five Boy Scout Adult Leader Woodbadge training tickets (http://www.woodbadge.org/), I volunteered to serve as our district's collection site coordinator for Scouting for Food (http://www.tinyurl.com/2kzl3p). This year I served as the Canyons District Scouting for Food Chairperson. Working with Lane Calvert and Ned Bradley at the Orange County Council level, and with the help of many adult leaders and scouts from many units, during the week of November 5-10, our district was able to collect 12,855 pounds, which was a slight improvement over last year and put us in 3rd place within the council. The council as a whole collected 110,039 pounds of food that was donated to Second Harvest Food Bank (http://www.secondharvest.org/). This amount was slightly down from last year, probably because there were more food drives held this year by Second Harvest and other food banks, and also perhaps because of so many families being adversely affected by the recent wild fires. Congratulations and thanks to all those who worked hard to help ensure another successful Scouting for Food drive. Here are some photos from our SFF collection efforts.
