As I said in my last blog, Sunday promised to be a special day, and it was. The support and love our family felt from people at church was amazing. People were so kind and concerned and wanting to know what they could do to help. Many people fasted and prayed for us- ward and stake members, friends from other churches, family far and near. It was a very humbling experience. Its hard to be on the receiving end of this much attention when we are use to being the ones trying to help others.
I attended leadership meetings from 6-9am, where I was among close friends whom I love. Afterwards we attended our regular block of church meetings, then choir practice, which Kim directs. Just before we broke our fasts with a family dinner, a group of close friends and priesthood holders came to our home and gave me a blessing in accordance with the pattern taught in James 5: 14-15. Our son Jayson anointed me with oil and President Goodman, our stake president, sealed the anointing and pronounced a beautiful and reassuring blessing. We all felt the Lord's peace and were reassured that I am in his hands. His will be done. It felt so good to have so much priesthood power in the room and to have them lay their hands on my head and bless me.
After a nice dinner which Kim and Katie prepared, I was able to attend Stake Priesthood meeting with three of my four sons (Clayton is in med school at Penn State) *and* my wife. How many guys can make *that* claim?! Kim accompanied the shepherds quintet from the recent Savior of the World play as they sang the 23rd psalm as a special musical number, with Zach singing the solos. It was very beautiful. It was wonderful to have Judd join us for all our meetings on Sunday. What a day!
